Meeting the Newborn

One of the most joyous times for a family in our town is the birth of a new baby.  When the baby is seven days old the family throws a big party and invites all their friends and neighbors.  They usually slaughter a sheep or goat and have food for everyone.  They also shave the baby’s head and introduce the baby to everyone.  The culmination of the ceremony is when the family announces the baby’s name for the first time and everyone pronounces blessings upon the baby.

A few weeks ago, the wife of one of my friends gave birth to a baby girl.  We were not in town at the time of the celebration, but he invited us to his house later to see his new daughter.  We had a great time visiting with his family.  Amelie and Annika loved holding the baby.

Please pray for my friend and his family.  Pray especially that God will open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel.
